You will then be prompted to type in a username for the computer. This user will be created with full administrator privileges and you may add additional users later after the installation. We have chosen John as the username. The installation program has filled the computer name in for us as John-PC, you can change this if you wish. If you have more than one computer make sure they have different names. Click the next button when you are ready.

You must then set a password for the account and a password hint. The password can be anything you choose but you must remember what it is. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. The password hint field is provided to prompt you to remember your password. If your password was rover you might have a password hint of What is the dogs name as an example, though that would be a prime example of an insecure password. Click next when you are done.

The next screen will prompt you for your 25 charactor product key. The product key is usually found on a sticker that is attached to the side of your computer or perhaps found on the packaging of your installation disk. Type it in exactly as it appears on the sticker and click next.

The set up program will now ask you what level of Automatic Updates you would prefer. Automatic Updates allow your computer to stay safe from any security holes that may be discovered in Windows 7 or one of its components. The computer will automatically check for any updates via the internet and download and install any that are found. I suggest using the first option, Use Recommended Settings, as it will install security updates as well as any software updates.

Time and Date Settings allows you to change the date, time and time zone on your PC. Make sure these are correct and click next.
